New Directions 2020: 36th Annual International Exhibition of Contemporary Art

New Directions 2020 is the 36th annual juried contemporary art exhibition held at Barrett Art Center. The exhibition runs October 10 – November 14, 2020. This premier national exhibition welcomes new approaches in contemporary art, encouraging artists to submit works that embrace cutting-edge practices and/or traditional styles in innovative ways. The center accepts 2D media, 3D sculpture, video, and installation work.

Barrett Art Center is housed in an 1840s Greek Revival townhouse with intimate galleries created from former domestic spaces. The juror is Nic Brierre Aziz, Curator at the New Orleans Museum of Art and Prospect New Orleans. Awards include $500 Juror's Prize, $200 Second Prize, and $125 Honorable Mention.

Entry fees for non-members are $35 for the first three images plus $5 for each additional image up to fifteen, with video submissions up to three allowed. Members pay $30 for the first three images plus $5 for each additional image up to ten. Maximum dimensions for 2D work are 72". For installation and sculpture, inquire for details. Barrett Art Center collects 20% commission on artwork by members and 30% on non-member artwork. Notification of acceptance occurs 14 days from the deadline.
