New Directions '14

New Directions is the 28th annual national juried exhibition of contemporary art, showcasing work by established and emerging artists from across the United States. The exhibition is held at Barrett Art Center Galleries, located in a Greek Revival townhouse built in 1830 and listed on the National Register of Historic Sites. Exhibition dates are September 27—November 8, 2014, with an opening reception on Saturday, September 27, 4 pm - 7 pm.

Eligible visual media include drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, installation art, glass, ceramics, fiber, and mixed media. Video/film, performance art, and wearable art are not eligible. Two-dimensional work cannot exceed 40 inches along any side, including frame. Three-dimensional work must fit within 60 inches high by 30 inches wide by 24 inches deep. All work must be original, completed within the last three years, and cannot have been previously exhibited at Barrett Art Center. Open to artists age 18 or older residing in the United States.

Entry fee is $50 for non-members (up to three works) or $40 for Barrett Art Center members. Artists may submit up to six images total, with two images per work (full view and optional detail for 2-D work; two different views required for 3-D work). Submission deadline is July 31, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MDT via CaFÉ online system. Notification of acceptance will be sent by August 20, 2014. Accepted work must be delivered between September 10-17, 2014. The juror is Lynne Warren, Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Three cash prizes and two honorary awards will be selected by the juror and announced at the opening reception. A gallery of selected works will be displayed on the Barrett Art Center website after the opening.
