About This Call
Salt Lake County is seeking an artist or artist team to create an exterior sculptural artwork for the new Daybreak Library located at 11300 Grandville Avenue in South Jordan, Utah. The selected artist(s) will be contracted to design and install a unique sculpture that addresses one or more of the following goals: visually depict nature, community, and learning; appeal to all age groups; fit in scale to the project site; be aesthetically compatible with the building's architecture; be a quality work of art; and be able to withstand and be easily maintained in a public setting. The project budget is up to $130,000.
The selection process is a two-stage process. In the first phase, artists must submit a letter of interest including a brief written statement about their approach to the project, up to ten images of relevant work, and biographical information. Finalists will be invited to travel to Salt Lake City (with expense compensation) to meet with the Selection Committee, ask detailed questions, and provide initial observations and responses to the site.
Eligibility is open to all professional artists and/or artist-led teams. Interested artists must demonstrate proficiency in executing work of similar scope and scale. Work sample requirements: 7-10 images and 0-3 videos (7-10 total samples minimum). The entry deadline is October 31, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time. For questions, contact Teresa Young at [email protected]. See the full RFP document at https://slco.org/contracts/current-bids/
