About This Call
New Contemporary: High Art, Low Art, and everything in between is a national juried competition open to all artists working in painting, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, digital, collage, sculpture, and photography. The competition seeks art that pushes boundaries in genres including High Brow, Low Brow, Pop Surrealism, Hyperrealism, Graffiti Art, and Abstract Art. Entrants must be 18 years or older, and submitted work must have been executed in the last five years. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor is not eligible.
Entry fee is $40 for one to three images, with an additional $5 per image up to a maximum of five images. Work sample requirements: submit 3-5 images. Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance will be sent by January 28, 2019. The exhibition runs February 22 – March 17, 2019, with an artist reception on Friday, February 22, 5:00-8:00pm.
Size and weight limitations: 2D work maximum 6x10 feet and 50 lbs uncrated; 3D work maximum 80"x32"x48" and 50 lbs. All 2D artwork must be wired for hanging with D-rings (no saw tooth hangers). Framed, shipped artwork must use plexiglass or other lightweight, break-resistant material. The artist is responsible for all shipping costs and must include a prepaid return shipping label. Work must be shipped in reusable crates or cartons without plastic peanuts or loose packing materials. The gallery retains a 35% commission on all sales. Artwork will be insured during the exhibition and must remain on display for its duration. All works must be for sale with prices determined by the artist. Shipped work will be returned the week of March 18, 2019; hand-delivered work may be picked up Monday, March 18, 2019, 10:00am-5:00pm.
