About This Call
SCORE (Southern California Open Regional Exhibitions) invites artists and photographers to enter New Beginnings, a premier online exhibit. The theme denotes transformation, resurrection, rebirth, and renewal. Artwork will be juried using digital images (.JPGs).
Eligibility is open to all artists and photographers worldwide. Submissions are limited to six original artworks per artist in the following media: drawing, mixed media, collage, printmaking, fiber art, photography, painting, digital art, sculpture, and assemblage. One entry is $35, with up to 5 additional entries at $5 each. All entries must be submitted as high resolution JPEGs (maximum 5MB), either cropped to remove background or on a black background without a mat. Entries must be original work of the artist's own execution and cannot have been previously submitted to SFVACC exhibits.
Awards include Best of Show ($800), 1st Place ($400), 2nd Place ($300), up to Four Honorable Mention certificates, and an Award of Distinction certificate selected by the SFVACC board. The juror is John Paul Thornton, an artist and educator who has taught at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Skirball Cultural Center, and California State University of Los Angeles. Entry deadline is December 6, 2020 at 11:59pm MST. Acceptance notifications will be sent by email on December 15, 2020, with award winners notified on December 22, 2020. The exhibit opens January 1, 2021, with a virtual artists' reception on January 9, 2021 from 5-7pm PST, and closes January 31, 2021. The exhibit will remain on view on the SFVACC website.
