About This Call
The Austin Museum of Art (AMOA) is accepting artists' submissions for New Art in Austin, a triennial showcase of emerging artists in the Austin community. The exhibition will be on view at AMOA-Downtown from February 15 - May 11, 2008, and will subsequently tour as a statewide traveling exhibition accompanied by a full-color scholarly catalogue from June 2008 - 2010. A statewide curatorial team will evaluate work from local artists. Through this exhibition, the Museum seeks to create a dialogue about contemporary art in Austin, attract attention to artists within the community, and share their work with other art centers in Texas.
Eligible artists must live within fifty miles of the Capitol building and have never had a solo show in a major mainstream exhibition venue in the area. Artists of any age may apply. Work in all media is eligible; only work made since 2005 will be considered, and new work that has never been exhibited is preferred.
Submission materials include five digital images representing a selection of 2-D, 3-D, or time-based work, an artist statement (approximately 300 words), and a bio including education and solo and group exhibitions within the last ten years. Artists working with time-based media may also mail VHS or DVD with a 2-minute clip to Austin Museum of Art, New Art in Austin, 823 Congress Ave., Ste. 100, Austin, TX 78701 by July 25, 2007. The entry fee is $10.00. Artist notification is scheduled for October 1, 2007.
