About This Call
New American Talent: The Twenty-Fourth Exhibition is a national all-media competition open to all artists living in the U.S.A. The juror is Hamza Walker, Director of Education and Curator at The Renaissance Society, Chicago, IL. The exhibition will be on view June 19 - August 23, 2009 at Arthouse at the Jones Center, Austin, Texas, and will tour to venues in Texas from fall 2009 through summer 2011.
Eligibility is open to all artists living in the U.S.A. Artwork must be completed in 2006–2008. Artists included in NAT 22 and NAT 23 are ineligible. Work in all media is eligible. Two-dimensional work must be suitable for installation and must not exceed 84" in any dimension, including frame. Sculpture should not exceed 84" including base and must be light enough for two people to handle. Video and New Media submissions should include a still image and indicate video as the medium. Submit 3-10 images. Entry fee is $27.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for images over the minimum. ARTHOUSE MEMBERS receive a 35% discount off jury fees; contact Ben Slade at [email protected] for a coupon code.
Artists whose works are accepted by image will be notified about when to ship their artwork (most likely early May). Works accepted for personal inspection by the juror may be withheld from the exhibition at the juror's discretion. The juror's decision is final. Most artworks selected will be included in Arthouse's Art On Tour program and will travel for 24 months to museums and university and community art galleries in Texas. Artwork valued at more than $3000 may not participate in the tour. Arthouse will publish an illustrated catalog; 5 complimentary copies will be sent to all accepted artists. Works must be packed properly for future shipping and touring. Arthouse is responsible for returning works pre-paid to the artist at the conclusion of the exhibition tour or if the work is not selected after being viewed by the juror.
