Nevada County Transit Public Art Installation

Nevada County Transit Services Division is seeking original artwork from local Nevada County artists to be used as designs for bus wraps for the Nevada County Transit bus fleet. Artists are requested to submit 3–5 original designs or concepts that can be easily translated into a vinyl wrap for a bus. Bus dimensions are 21'3" (647.7 cm) length x 8'9" (266.7 cm) height.

Initial submissions will be evaluated by the Project Team, which will choose up to ten designs/concepts to be produced for public display via County social media pages and Nevada County Arts Council website. The public will vote on their favorite design/concept. The design receiving the most public votes will be selected for installation as the bus wrap for the Transit Services Division fleet of eleven fixed-route buses. One design from one artist will be selected for the entire fleet. The selected artist will receive a $3,000 commission.

The project is part of a larger rebranding of the transit system designed to highlight the transit system and its connection to local communities. Artists should reflect what draws them to Nevada County, how they view the County, or what about the County inspires them. Proposals should demonstrate experience designing for large format production, reflect the culturally diverse population and community spirit of Nevada County, and show a body of work reflecting artistic excellence. Submissions must include an initial proposal reflecting project intent and references that will be contacted prior to final selection. The selected artist will be required to execute an Artist Contract and will be considered an independent contractor.
