Nerd Alert!

The Moses Lake Museum & Art Center invites submissions for "Nerd Alert!" an exhibition celebrating the nerd theme in all its forms. The museum seeks interpretations and illustrations exploring what it means to be a nerd today—from math and science to comics and pop culture. "Nerd" has evolved from a stereotypical label to one that incites pride and celebration, and this exhibit aims to showcase the eccentric, irregular, odd, strange, alternative, and unusual in all its glory.

All media are welcome, including acrylic, ceramic, drawing, fiber, glass, metal, mixed media, oil, photography, print, watercolor, and wood. Artwork must be original and completed within the last three years. Work cannot exceed 60 inches in any direction or weigh more than 25 pounds. All 2-D works must have professional hanging hardware with wire (no sawtooth hangers or cleats). Artists must be 18 years or older. No works previously shown at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center will be considered. The entry fee is $20 ($18 for current Museum Members with coupon code). Submissions may include up to 5 images and/or 5 audio files, with a minimum of 1 total sample required.

The exhibition runs August 20 - September 23, 2021. Artwork delivery is Saturday, August 7, 2021 between 10am-4pm. Pickup is Saturday, September 25, 2021. Artists are responsible for shipping costs. The museum charges a 30% commission on all gallery sales and will process payment for the remaining 70% within 30 days of purchase or close of exhibit. Insurance coverage is provided during exhibition dates at 70% of listed retail price. For works marked NFS, artists must provide a value.
