About This Call

This exhibition explores the concept of negative space and its role in art and daily life. The call invites artists to consider what negative space means to them—whether as a design element, a moment of emptiness, or a source of inspiration. All 2-D, 3-D, video, installation, written, and performative work (music, dance, theater, etc.) will be considered.

The exhibition runs June 6 - August 26, 2022, curated by April Parviz, media and communications director at Intersect Arts Center. Applicants must submit 1-10 images, and may include up to 3 audio files and 3 video files. An entry fee of $30 is required. Submissions must include a written statement explaining how your work relates to the call theme, as well as your collaborative process. Include the size of work in inches and any social media or website links for marketing purposes.

Artwork must be received by May 25, 2022. Artwork drop-off is May 23-25 during business hours (12-6 p.m.). Intersect Arts Center will cover return shipping costs up to $100 per artist. Artwork must not hang from the ceiling; 2-D art must be ready to hang with no saw-tooth hangers. Acceptance notifications will be sent by March 31, 2022. International artists are eligible to apply.
