About This Call
Nefelibata is a Portuguese word for "cloud walker"; one who lives in the clouds of their own imagination or dreams, or one who does not obey the conventions of society, literature, or art. This exhibition seeks work representing this concept of living in the endless confines of your imagination, with varying interpretations of Nefelibata encouraged. An installation room is available for interested artists.
The Indiana University Kokomo Union Street Gallery is located in downtown Kokomo and displays artwork by students, faculty, alumni, and local, regional, and national artists throughout the year. The exhibit is open to all artists over the age of 16 who reside in the United States. All fine art media are accepted including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, collage, digital, and mixed media. All work must be original and completed in the last two years. Sculptures should not exceed 9 feet in height. A maximum of 3 pieces can be entered per artist. There is no entry fee.
All entries must be made through the CaFE website using high-resolution (300dpi) jpeg images not exceeding 5MB. For 3D works, a second detail photo may be uploaded. Professional presentation is required: 2D artwork must be framed with secure hanging hardware; canvas sides and staples must be covered; sculptures must be fully assembled, structurally sound, and include detailed installation instructions if necessary. Delivery of artwork is the artist's responsibility and may be done in person during gallery hours (March 21-24, 2018) or by mail. Pick-up is April 26-28, 2018, 11:30am-5:30pm. Any work not picked up 30 days after the exhibition ends becomes the property of the gallery. Exhibition dates are April 6-25, 2018, with an opening reception on April 6 at 5:30pm-8:00pm. Artists will be notified on or before March 12, 2018.
