About This Call

The 2019 NCECA Juried Student Exhibition will run concurrently with Claytopia, the 53rd annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, March 27-30, 2019. The exhibition runs March 25-April 20, 2019 at Soo Visual Arts Center (2909 Bryant Ave S #101, Minneapolis, MN 55408). Ceramic artists Steven Young Lee and Linda Lopez will select works for the exhibition.

Eligibility is extended to undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate students enrolled in the United States, Canada, and Mexico who are working towards a degree or are post-baccalaureate in art at the time of submission. Students enrolled at institutions where the jurors currently serve as faculty are not eligible. Entry fees are $15 for NCECA members and $30 for non-members. All works must be primarily ceramic; mixed media works are accepted only when clay is the dominant material. Applicants may submit up to two works with a maximum of two media files per work (four total media files). Individual objects should weigh less than 100 lbs and fit through a 36" x 80" entrance door. Floor and pedestal works must be self-supporting; wall hanging works must include appropriate hanging systems.

Applications are accepted online only through CaFÉ. Submissions must include an artist statement (up to 1000 characters), level of study, school name, professor name and contact information, and a monetary value declaration for insurance purposes. All work samples and attachments must not include visual representation of the applicant's name to enable blind adjudication. For questions about eligibility or submission rules, contact [email protected].
