About This Call
The 2026 NCECA Juried Student Exhibition is open to undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate students enrolled in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico. Work must have been completed within 12 months of the submission deadline, and applicants must have been working toward a degree or post-baccalaureate in art when the work was created. Students enrolled at institutions where the jurors currently serve as faculty are not eligible to apply. Work by recent graduates is eligible as long as it was created within the last 12 months and while they were still students. NCECA membership is not required; however, NCECA members receive a complimentary entry fee. The entry fee for non-members is $30.00, though this fee will be waived for non-members who submit a second application with a second artwork using coupon code NonMem2.
The exhibition will run March 6-April 4, 2026, at the Valade Family Gallery of the College For Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, and will run concurrently with VOLUMES, the 60th annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, March 25-28, 2026. Ceramic artists Eva Kwong and Gary Schneider will jury the exhibition. This exhibition focuses on dynamic expressions of ceramic creation, media, process, history, and context. Mixed-media pieces are acceptable only when clay and ceramic expressions are predominant and essential to the work's creation. Artists may submit a maximum of two applications, with one artwork per application. Work samples and attachments (other than a resume) must not include the applicant's name. Floor and pedestal work must be self-supporting; wall-mounted work must be provided with hanging systems suitable for secure installation. Individual objects should weigh less than 100 lbs. and have dimensions that can pass through a 36" x 80" entrance door. Video samples should be submitted as links to accessible files on YouTube, Vimeo, or similar platforms, no longer than two minutes per video. The entry deadline is September 10, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
