About This Call
The 2025 NCECA Juried Student Exhibition is open to undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate students enrolled in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico. Works must have been completed within 12 months of the submission deadline, and applicants must have been working toward a degree or post-baccalaureate in art when the work was created. Students enrolled at institutions where the jurors currently serve as faculty are not eligible to apply. Recent graduates' work is eligible if created in the last 12 months and when they were still students. NCECA membership is not required; however, NCECA members receive a complimentary entry fee. Non-members pay a $30.00 entry fee.
The exhibition will run March 7 - May 31, 2025, at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA) in Salt Lake City, Utah, and will run concurrently with FORMATION, the 59th annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, March 26-29, 2025. Ceramic artists Nicole Seisler and Adrienne Eliades will select works for the exhibition.
All work must be primarily ceramic; mixed media works will be accepted only when clay is the dominant material. Artists may submit up to two individual works with up to two supporting media files (image, video, or audio) per work, not to exceed four total media files. Images must include a minimum of 1 and maximum of 4; audio 0-2; video 0-2. Floor and pedestal work must be self-supporting. Wall hanging work must be provided with hanging systems suitable for secure installation. Individual objects should weigh less than 100 lbs. and have dimensions that can pass through a 36" x 80" entrance door. Work samples and attachments (other than a resume) must not include the applicant's name. Video samples should be submitted as links to accessible files on YouTube, Vimeo, or similar platforms, no longer than two minutes per video. The deadline is September 18, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
