About This Call

The 2022 NCECA Juried Student Exhibition will be held at the Library Gallery, University Galleries, California State University, Sacramento (6000 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95819-6061) from March 1 to April 15, 2022. The exhibition runs concurrently with Fertile Ground, the 56th annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, March 16-19, 2022. Ceramic artists Patsy Cox and Andres Payan Estrada will select works for the exhibition.

Eligibility is open to undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate students enrolled in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Works must have been completed within 12 months of the submission deadline. Students enrolled at institutions where the jurors currently serve as faculty are not eligible. Entry fee is $30.00 for non-members and free for NCECA members. All works must be primarily ceramic; mixed media works are accepted only when clay is the dominant material.

Submissions must be made online using the CaFÉ entry process by September 29, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain time. No more than two works may be submitted, with up to two media files per work (maximum four total media files per entrant). Work samples must not include visual representation of the applicant's name. Video samples should be submitted as links to YouTube, Vimeo, or similar platforms; one video must be no longer than two minutes, with an optional link to a full-length video. Floor and pedestal works must be self-supporting; wall hanging works must include secure hanging systems. Individual objects should weigh less than 100 lbs. and fit through a 36" x 80" entrance door. All submissions must include an artist statement (up to 1000 characters), short bio (up to 1000 characters), level of study, and school name.
