About This Call
The 2016 NCECA National Student Juried Exhibition will be held at the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center in Kansas City, Missouri from March 4 - April 30, 2016, in conjunction with the NCECA 50th Anniversary Conference. Jurors Liz Quackenbush and Lee Somers will select artwork and determine cash merit awards, which will be announced during the Opening Reception and at the Second Members' Business Meeting.
Eligibility is open to full-time undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate students enrolled in institutions in the United States. Students enrolled at institutions where the jurors currently serve as faculty are not eligible. Applicants must be working towards a degree or be a post-baccalaureate in art at the time of submission. All works must be primarily ceramic; mixed media works are accepted only when clay is the dominant material. Video featuring clay or ceramics will be juried and must be anonymous. Work must fit through a standard door, and floor and pedestal works must be self-supporting.
Entry fees are $15 for NCECA members and $30 for non-members. Applicants may submit up to two distinct works with no more than two media files per work, not to exceed four total media files. Images must be JPEGs up to 5MB with a minimum of 1920 pixels on the longest side. Audio files must be AIFF, WAV, XMF, or MP3 up to 10MB with a minimum bit rate of 96. Video files must be 3GP, WMV, AVI, MOV, ASF, MPG, MP4, M2T, MKV, M2TS up to 100MB with a minimum resolution of 640 x 480 and minimum 12 fps. Acceptance notification will be sent mid-October 2015. Students are responsible for shipping their work to and from the venue and insuring it in transit. NCECA will reimburse up to $50 per piece for return shipping with an original receipt and reimbursement form submitted by June 15, 2016. The Leedy-Voulkos Art Center will provide insurance coverage while work is on premises. Artists will receive 50% commission on work sold. Participating artists must agree to allow photography of work for educational and publicity purposes.
