About This Call
NC State University is seeking proposals from artists or teams to create a themed Wolfpack art installation for the newly completed Wellness and Recreation Center at Carmichael Gym on Central Campus in Raleigh, NC. The installation will be integrated into a large wall on the South side of the building's prominent four-story atrium and should have three-dimensionality (relief or sculptural). The concept should illustrate the attributes of the pack and represent the strength, confidence, pride, courage, spirit, and passion of NC State.
The project budget is $200,000 inclusive of travel, research, design/engineering, fabrication, installation, insurance, taxes, site preparation, and any modifications to the existing building. The installation must be very durable and easily maintained, using non-water-based and durable materials that are vandal resistant. Any structural elements must be designed and sealed by a professional engineer registered in North Carolina. Planned project completion is Fall 2022.
Eligibility is open to professional artists living in the United States. Phase I submissions of qualifications are due July 30, 2021 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time. Submissions must include a one to two page letter of interest addressing selection criteria and conceptual approach, a resume (no more than three pages), up to 10 images of representative projects, and an annotated list with titles, media, dimensions, budgets, and descriptive information. Selected finalists will be invited to visit campus during the week of September 20, 2021 for interviews, with the university providing a $3,000 stipend inclusive of travel expenses for one person. Sketch proposals will be due by the week of November 1, 2021, with final selection by the week of November 15, 2021. Submit all materials as a single PDF to Project Manager Bob Cwikla at [email protected].
