Nature Inspired: Animals

Nature Inspired: Animals is a special edition of the ongoing Nature Inspired series, seeking to connect people more deeply to nature through art and poetry. The call invites animal-related work—art and poetry—that will deepen the reader's awareness and relationship to animals. All selected work will be published in the book Nature Inspired: Animals Edition. Each work stands on its own in the edition; writing is not used to illustrate art or vice versa.

Nature Inspired is a published collection of writing and art exploring our deep connection to nature, printed four times a year with seasonal editions and occasional special editions. Each edition is designed as an 8.5 x 8.5 inch softcover book, full color, printed via digital print process. The work in each edition is juried and hand-picked to create a powerful collection of words and images. Books are available for sale through the Nature Inspired Anthologies website and on Amazon.com.

Submissions are open to anyone 18 years of age or older (international). You may submit up to five entries total—either five written pieces, five pieces of art, or a combination of both. Writing may be poetry or short stories in English, not exceeding 1000 words; previously published work is acceptable if indicated. Artwork may include paintings, prints, drawings, computer-generated images, and photographs of 3D work, submitted as high-resolution JPEG files. The organization cannot guarantee color consistency in digital printing. Entry fee is $35.00. If your work is selected, it will be published and your name, image (if you choose), and website will be listed on the Nature Inspired Anthologies website under Meet The Artists for at least a year, along with a 3-sentence bio. You will receive a PDF of the finished publication. Contributors may purchase up to two books at printing cost. Submissions are reviewed as they arrive; applicants may be accepted, not-accepted, or placed on a waiting list.
