About This Call
Nature Homage is an open medium exhibition of original and unique 2D and 3D artworks featuring the great outdoors and its creatures. Work must depict an outdoor scene or landscape and/or wild animals, plants, or insects from anywhere on the planet. Works can include man-made objects, but the work itself should highlight and focus on the beauty of nature and the landscape and/or creature(s) in its majority. Work may be no longer than 60 inches in its longest dimension and weigh no more than 50 pounds.
This is a juried exhibition co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and exhibition juror Nicole C. Harp. The exhibition will be held at d'Art Center's Main Gallery, located at 740 Boush Street in Norfolk's NEON District. Exhibition dates are Saturday, August 28th through Sunday, September 19th, 2021, with a public reception on Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 from 5:30-7:30pm. The gallery will also conduct a Facebook Live of the reception awards and upload the award video to YouTube.
Eligibility is open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without the aid of an instructor or kit, and produced within the last five years. Entry fee is $45.00 for 3 works (one image per submission), with an additional $5.00 for each submission beyond 3 (maximum of 10 submissions). Artists must submit 3-10 images for jury consideration. Awards include 1st Place: $500.00, 2nd Place: $300.00, and 3rd Place: $150.00. Accepted works must arrive by 5pm Friday, August 20th, 2021. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels via UPS or FedEx. The d'Art Center is not responsible for damage during shipping and transit; artists should insure their work.
