National Watercolor Society 2021 Member Exhibition

The National Watercolor Society 2021 Member Exhibition is open to all Active NWS Members. This is an online-only exhibition with $10,000 in cash awards: three $2,000 awards, two $1,000 awards, and four $500 awards to honor NWS Past Presidents. The juror of selection and awards is Mat Barber Kennedy.

Eligibility and Requirements: Artists must be 18 years or older and maintain active NWS membership (annual dues $50). Artists may enter up to two paintings, but only one painting per artist is eligible for acceptance. All entries must have been created after January 1, 2018 and not previously shown in any NWS exhibition. Paintings must be primarily water-based media on appropriate water media surfaces; other media may be used only in conjunction with water media, which must be dominant. No digital media, photography, prints, or reproductions are permitted. All entries must be original works painted only by the artist, not produced in a class or workshop. Photo reference material must have been taken by the artist, though vintage heirloom family photos may be used if the artist possesses the original photograph.

Entry fees are $40 for one image or $50 for two images (non-refundable). All accepted work must be for sale with no price changes after acceptance. Artwork will be displayed on the NWS online website and video, with sales conducted privately between artist and buyer. The artist is responsible for shipping and governmental reporting. NWS retains a 30% commission from any sale. Awards unclaimed by December 1, 2021 will be forfeited. The exhibition runs May 1-June 27, 2021. Artists may not display accepted artwork or offer it for sale in another exhibition, competition, or gallery during the exhibition dates.
