National Watercolor Society 101st International Open Exhibition

The National Watercolor Society invites entries for the 101st International Open Exhibition, with estimated $40,000+ in cash and merchandise awards, including a $5,000 NWS Permanent Collection Purchase Award. The exhibition runs October 1 – December 11, 2021. Entry deadline is May 14, 2021 at 12:00 Noon MDT. Entry fee is $40 for NWS members (with coupon code) or $65 for non-members.

Artists must be 18 years or older and may enter only one painting completed within the last two years. Work must be primarily water-based media on paper, Yupo, or Aquabord, with other media acceptable only if used in conjunction with water media as the dominant medium. Collage is acceptable if created with approved paper painted by you in watermedia. Digital media, photography, prints, reproductions, diptychs, and triptychs are not permitted. Artwork must be original, painted only by you, and not produced in a class or workshop. Minimum image size is 5" x 7"; maximum is 40" on the longest dimension. Work previously exhibited in any National or International Open Exhibition, including NWS Member Exhibition, is not eligible.

All accepted work must be for sale with no price changes after acceptance. NWS retains a 30% commission on sales and presold paintings. Jurors of Selection are Ken Goldman, Bev Jozwiak, and Donna Zagotta. Ali Cavanaugh is the Judge of Awards. Acceptance counts toward NWS Signature status and qualifies artists for Signature Review.
