About This Call

The National Watercolor Society invites artists to submit work for the 100th International Open Exhibition, running October 1, 2020 through January 30, 2021. The exhibition will feature approximately $45,000 in cash and merchandise awards.

Eligibility and Requirements: Artists must be 18 years or older and may enter only one painting. Work must have been completed within the last two years and cannot have been previously exhibited in any National or International Open Exhibit. Paintings must be primarily water-based media on appropriate water media surfaces; other media may be used only in conjunction with water media, which must remain dominant. Digital media, photography, prints, and reproductions are not permitted. All entries must be original works painted only by the artist, not produced in a class or workshop, and using photo reference material taken by the artist. Artwork dimensions must be between 5" x 7" minimum and 40" on the longest dimension maximum.

Submission Details: Entry deadline is May 22, 2020 at 12:00 Noon MDT. Entry fee is $30 for National Watercolor Society members (with coupon code) or $60 for non-members. Submissions are accepted at www.callforentry.org. Images must be submitted as JPEG or JPG files, 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, with a maximum file size of 5 MB. Accepted artists will be notified on June 15, 2020. All accepted artwork will be displayed on NWSExhibition.com and must be submitted with a for-sale price. Jurors of Selection include Katherine Chang Liu, Dean Mitchell, and John Salminen. Mary Whyte serves as Judge of Awards.
