National Juried Photography Exhibit

The National Exhibition of Photography is open to all interested photographers with three sections: Professional, Amateur 18 or older, and Amateur 17 or under. Work must be that of the entrant; group work by two or more people will not be accepted.

The exhibition uses a two-tier judging system. Tier 1 consists of preliminary judging of digital images uploaded online. Images advancing to Tier 2 are evaluated as printed and mounted images delivered to the Fairgrounds. Advancement from Tier 1 does not guarantee that a print will hang in the show; images must meet fair rules and judges' standards for print quality presentation. Judging criteria include visual impact, composition, technical quality, creativity, and presentation.

Entries are submitted online at callforentry.org (CaFÉ) with a $10 processing fee per entry. Digital images must be .jpeg or .jpg only, 72 ppi/dpi, no smaller than 1920 px on the longest side, and no bigger than 5 MB. Submissions must be registered and uploaded by Friday, March 17, 11:59 pm (Pacific Time). Tier 1 notification will be sent by email by Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Images advancing to Tier 2 must be printed, mounted, and delivered by Friday, April 21 to the National Orange Show Administration Building, Gate 1, 689 South "E" Street, San Bernardino, CA 92408. Final judging results will be posted online by Wednesday, May 3. The exhibition runs May 4-14, 2017.

Photos containing sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent, or other objectionable content are ineligible. Digital enhancement to improve photographic quality is allowed; highly manipulated images should be entered in the Photographic Digital Art Category. Work previously shown at the Fair or nearly identical work is ineligible. Identical prints may not be shown in more than one category. Submitting color and black and white versions of the same images is not allowed. No watermarks or names are allowed on digital entries or on the fronts of prints, mounts, or mat boards. Awards include monetary prizes and rosettes in each section and category, with a Best of Show award selected from first place winners. No exhibitor will be allowed more than two monetary awards per class, but there is no limit to the number of ribbons an exhibitor may win.
