About This Call
This is a national juried visual art competition and exhibition open to any artist who is a resident of the United States and is over the age of 18, working in two-dimensional media. Eligible media include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and mixed media works with a maximum depth of five inches, as well as other traditional or non-traditional two-dimensional media, excluding film.
Artists may submit up to two works for a non-refundable entry fee of $35. All works must have been created within the last three years. Image submissions must be in JPEG format at 72 ppi/dpi, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, and maximum 5 MB. The juror is Jonathan McMillan, Associate Professor of Studio Art at University of Mary Washington. Jury dates are August 15-28, with notification of acceptance via email on September 1, 2017. The exhibition runs October 6-28, 2017.
Awards include $2000 in cash and prizes for Juror's Choice, Director's Choice, and Audience Choice. All accepted works must be framed or otherwise ready to hang. Works on paper must be behind Plexiglas and professionally framed and wired to hang on a single nail. Works on canvas or wood must be framed or have gallery wrapped edges and be wired to hang on a single nail. All work must arrive at the gallery between September 25-30, 2017. The gallery takes a 30% commission on any sales made during or resulting from the exhibition. Artists are responsible for insuring work during shipping and for the full length of the exhibition.
