Narratives in Fiber

Narratives in Fiber invites fiber artists to explore storytelling through their work. A narrative thread braids a story together, creating cohesion and building tension. Events, characters, and themes are woven together through a beginning, middle, and end. The exhibition welcomes a broad interpretation of the theme, and all varieties of fiber artists are encouraged to apply.

The exhibition runs May 15th through June 20th at the gallery located inside the historic Alberta House, a block from the Soo Locks. The opening reception is May 17th from 1-3pm. Cash award opportunities total $800: Best of Show ($300), Runner Up ($200), Third Place ($100), Viewer's Choice ($100), and two Honorable Mentions ($50 each). Artwork delivery is May 6th-10th (Tu-Sa, 11am-4pm), and pickup is June 21st-25th.

Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 and older living in the United States. Each artist may submit 1-3 images of recent, original fiber artwork. Work must be original; no reproductions accepted. Size limitation is 3 ft x 4 ft (size will be considered in the jurying process). Entry fee is $35. SAAC retains 30% commission on sales for non-members or 20% for $100 level members. Shipped work must include pre-paid return shipping. By entering, artists grant SAAC the right to use images for digital and print promotional purposes. Application deadline is April 9th at 11:59 p.m. MDT, with notification of selected work on April 11th.
