About This Call
Carnation Contemporary, a cooperative gallery supporting emerging and mid-career artists, invites submissions for "My Private Property," an exhibition exploring work at the intersection of new media and craft. The exhibition runs March 4-26, 2023, with an opening reception on March 4 from 6-9pm.
This open call seeks artwork made with intention and careful hands that speaks to collective experience. The curator, Luiza Lukova, is interested in exploring how artists respond to contemporary climates around artistry, commodification, and the influx of AI-generated content. The call asks: when does your work feel most deliriously free and true?
Entry fee is $30. Submissions must include a brief statement of intent explaining how your work relates to the open call, 5-10 work samples (or 10-15 pages for written works), and an artist CV. For images, provide title, year, media, and dimensions. For video/audio work, upload one still and provide a YouTube or Vimeo link. All mediums and modes of expression are encouraged to apply. Applications are accepted via CaFE only. Accepted work must be received by February 26th and shipped with prepaid return labels in reusable cartons or crates. The artist is responsible for all shipping costs and insurance. Notification of acceptance or decline will be sent February 12th. Installation is February 27-March 3rd.
