About This Call
Juried Arts Festival and Sale "Jonah" (May 12-20, 2007). All artists are invited to explore the spiritual and visual themes of the biblical book of Jonah through the creation of new and original works of art. Only original artwork based on Jonah will be accepted into the festival.
Three divisions are available: Professional Division (career professional artists and educators), Artists Community Division (nonprofessional artists 18 and above), and Scholar's Division (artists ages 12-18). Artists in the Scholar's Division may submit only one work with a maximum framed size of 24" x 36". Two works may be submitted in the Artists Community Division and the Professional Division. All submissions must be original works on canvas, paper, or fabric. Original works in photography and sculpture are also accepted. Crafts, including jewelry, kits, copies, or prints will not be accepted. Two dimensional works must be appropriately framed, ready for wall mounting, and must not exceed 48" in any direction. Glazing must be Plexiglas only. Sculpture footprint cannot be more than 2' x 3' or weigh more than 50 lbs.
The Selection Committee, chaired by Bob Snider, will select pieces for the festival. After selection, Juror Shelia B. Parsons will select the top ten works in each category for special recognition and award one "Best in Category" award of $500 for Scholar's Division, $750 for Artists Community, and $1,000 for Professional Division. All accepted entries will be available for sale on consignment; artists receive 75% of the determined price with 25% retained for administrative expenses. Registration and submission deadline is March 30, 2007 through CaFE (www.callforentry.org). Artists are expected to attend as many planned events as possible. An Art Demo Day is scheduled for February 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church. Free professional digital photography services are available on March 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church. Art Delivery Day is May 5. The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will perform selected works including David Itkin's Pulitzer Prize nominated symphony, Jonah on May 18-19.
