About This Call
Museology is a call for art that invites artists to consider what work they would create or submit for inclusion in a museum, as an exercise in strategic thinking for an artist's legacy or advancing recognition of individual fine art practice. The call has an emphasis on sculpture and metal casting, though all mediums are welcome. 2D work will be part of the exhibition. Accepted sculpture works will be exhibited on the floor, pedestals, wall-mounted, on shelves mounted to a wall (with invisible concealed mounts), or suspended from a ceiling.
Eligibility and Requirements: Artists must consider themselves professional artists with a professional forward-facing persona centered on fine art practice. Traditional representational art will be considered, but the venue is a contemporary art space. Submissions should reflect considered conceptual work. Submit a short biography (third person, maximum 150 words), a one-page curriculum vitae including education, employment, exhibitions (solo or group with venue and year), and any highlights such as public art commissions, reviews, or museum inclusions. An additional half-page may be included for the highlights section only.
Size and Media Limitations: Wall sculpture can be no heavier than 100 pounds per section, up to 10 feet in total width and 32 inches by 10 feet tall per section. Free-standing sculpture must be moveable by hand truck, no taller than 72 inches (or 10 feet if placeable on its side), and no heavier than 200 pounds. Heavier works up to 600 pounds must be hand-delivered and placed by the artist. All 3D and 2D works shall be no larger than 10 feet in any dimension; works larger than 72 inches by 32 inches must be in sections. Paintings can be up to 72 inches wide by 10 feet high. Photography must be professionally mounted in a floating frame or on substrate with cleat back. Video submissions must include a display method (physical screen or projector). Suspended works may be considered; acceptance does not guarantee installation, and artists may exhibit a photograph as alternative.
Entry Fee: $35 for the first submission; up to 2 additional pieces may be submitted for $5 each (maximum 3 submissions total). One detail image per submission is allowed with coupon code detail123. Exhibition dates: June 6 - August 16, 2025. Accepted works must arrive the week of May 18-24. Juror: Dr. Yang Wang, Art Historian and Professor at University of Colorado Denver.
