Mural Artist Roster 2021-23 - City of Auburn, WA

The City of Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation division invites experienced artists living in Washington State to submit qualifications for the Mural Artist Roster. This roster serves as a resource to identify artists suitable for new artwork commissions as opportunities become available. The roster will be updated every three years, and artists currently listed are invited to reapply.

The goal is to enhance Auburn's public spaces by adding works of art by local artists to utilitarian surfaces often targeted by vandalism. These pieces of public art can enhance the visual character of the city, promote community dialogue, turn ordinary spaces into community landmarks, and are accessible to everyone. Artists selected to be on the roster may be contacted with opportunities to be paid a stipend to submit designs for mural projects as they arise, but also have the opportunity to decline if the location, timeline, project, or budget is not suitable.

Eligibility is open to experienced artists living in Washington State regardless of race, color, creed, gender, gender variance, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, or mental or physical handicap. Artists working in any media are eligible. Previous public art experience is not required, but evidence of artistic skills and possible project feasibility must be demonstrated through past work samples. Required application materials include a one-page letter of interest (PDF), artist resume (PDF), 5-10 work samples (JPEGs), and contact information for 3 professional references. All materials must be submitted through CaFE. Application deadline: May 18, 2021 at 10:59 p.m. PST. Notification of selected artists expected in June 2021.
