Mural Artist

LaGrange Art Museum seeks to create a wall mural to be displayed on the North and Northwest façades of the Museum's Center for Creative Learning. Located adjacent to the historic LaGrange Art Museum main building, the Center corner has frontage on major thoroughfares downtown with the highest traffic counts in the area. The mural will boost the profile of the Museum and beautify downtown.

In partnership with Interface, Inc. and David Oakey Designs, the selected artists or team will design a mural that accentuates a communal, multidisciplinary venue intended to serve a broad cross section of the community's residents and local arts organizations. The successful proposal should act as a catalyst for discussion or action toward renewed community involvement in the downtown district, announce the community as an environment where creativity is alive and well, beautify the gateway intersection and act as a focal point, create a sense of community ownership and stewardship about the space, and work in integrated partnership with corporate sponsors Interface, Inc. and David Oakey Designs.

While a theme has not been selected, abstract interpretation rather than illustrative approach is encouraged. Applicants may submit up to 2 applications. Work sample requirements: 10 images minimum and maximum. Entry deadline: 8/15/15 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Eligibility is regional, limited to Georgia residents.
