About This Call
Escape to the Southernmost Point and make new work in a place that has drawn artists, writers, and rule-breakers for generations.
The Studios of Key West invites applications to its monthlong Peyton Evans Artist Residency (PEAR) Program, welcoming visual artists, writers, musicians, performers, media artists, and interdisciplinary creatives. Each year, nearly 40 artists are selected to spend focused time in Key West—an island long known for its creative spirit, rich cultural history, and ethos of One Human Family.
Residents are provided with housing in a beautifully renovated guesthouse featuring four private studios (including one ADA-accessible), a shared kitchen, and a lush courtyard. Artists are encouraged to develop new work, connect with fellow residents, and engage with the local community through an optional public offering such as a workshop, reading, or talk.
Additional benefits include access to yoga classes, a sunset sail excursion aboard a luxury catamaran, a library card, and a bicycle or tricycle for exploring the island.
Applications are reviewed by panels of working artists across five disciplines: Visual, Literary, Media, Musical, and Performing Arts. With an acceptance rate of approximately 12–13%, PEAR supports artists with strong vision and a desire to grow.
The Studios of Key West’s mission is to support artists, inspire creativity, and build community.
