About This Call
The Orange County Public Art Review Board is inviting applications from individual artists or artist teams to create artwork for the Orange County Multicultural Senior Center, located in Pine Hills, Orlando. The facility will serve as a gathering space for community engagement, hosting programs, workshops, games, craft activities, and events. The center will include a warming kitchen and event hall for meals and celebrations.
Artwork possibilities include multiple works hung throughout the center, art embedded in walls, suspended 3D art, kinetic sculpture, textile art, glass art, mosaic, and murals. The interior features vaulted ceilings and unfinished space, offering opportunity for artist coordination with the developer to create a vibrant environment. Installation is scheduled for July 2026.
A budget of $48,500 has been approved for artwork. Selected artist(s) will receive a comprehensive contract and be responsible for artwork design, fabrication, materials, installation, insurance, travel, public presentations, meetings with Orange County staff, identification plaque, and all related incidental expenses. Finalists will be selected to provide proposals and will be paid a $500 stipend each. This opportunity is open to professional artists working in any appropriate media. Student artists may apply if they secure an experienced public artist to serve as a mentor. Application requirements include a professional resume, letter of interest outlining approach, and 1-5 images of finished works or conceptual drawings. Experience with public art projects of similar budget is not required but helpful. Deadline: September 9, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Contact: Dawn R. Knight, Public Art Coordinator, 407-836-5540, [email protected].
