About This Call
The Arvada Center is dedicating its entire Main Gallery in Fall 2024 to showcase the mug form. The exhibition will run from September 12 - November 10, 2024, and will feature 250-350 hand-made mugs from artists worldwide. Submissions are open from March 12 - June 23, 2024.
Artwork must utilize or reference the form of a mug. Both functional and non-functional, traditional and non-traditional pieces are eligible in any media. However, artwork depicting mugs (such as paintings) is not eligible. All mugs must not exceed a 7" x 7" footprint and weigh no more than 10 lbs. The non-refundable entry fee is $10 for up to three entries. Limited entrance fee scholarships are available for artists experiencing economic hardship, BIPOC artists, and LGBTQIA+ artists. Submit 1-3 JPG images that represent the work exactly, cropped to exclude background as much as possible.
Accepted artwork may be hand-delivered August 28-29, 9:30am-4:30pm, or shipped to arrive by August 26, 2024. The Arvada Center provides insurance for artworks on premises but is not responsible for damage or loss during transport. All work must be for sale with a maximum value of $250. If sold, artists receive 60% of proceeds and the Arvada Center retains 40%. Payment is made after the exhibition closes. The exhibition will be juried by the Arvada Center Galleries team: Bebe Alexander (Ceramics Program Coordinator), Collin Parson (Director of Galleries and Curator), and Emily Grace King (Exhibition Manager and Associate Curator). Open to all artists over 18.
