About This Call
Utah Arts & Museums is seeking artists and artist teams resident in the western United States to create site-specific exterior artwork for the Mountainland Technical College Trades and Technology Building in Lehi, Utah. The deadline for materials is December 4, 2020.
Mountainland Technical College (MTECH) is a leader in providing career and technical education in the Mountainland region. The new Trades and Technology building will house a variety of industry and technology programs including Automotive, Diesel, Advanced Manufacturing, Welding, CNC/Machining, and Information Technology. The building design emphasizes transparency, lighting, textures, and graphics/signage to put the trades and technology programs on display. The exterior materials include light brown brick veneer, locally-quarried natural stone veneer, standing seam metal roofing in bronze color, and high-performance glazing. The Committee has identified the north side of the new facility for art placement.
Artists may consider the specific training offered at MTECH and the union between educational training and economic development, as well as the topography, community, and traditions of the Mountainland Region and Utah County. An $88,000 budget is available for all related expenses including artist fees, fabrication, insurance, shipping, travel, installation, and documentation. Eligible applicants must be resident American or legal resident artists/artist teams living in the western United States (Utah, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, or Wyoming). Utah artists are encouraged to apply. Art selection committee members and immediate families, board members, and employees of Method Studio or Utah Division of Arts and Museums are not eligible. Submissions must include 1-10 images and 0-2 videos. Register at www.callforentry.org to submit materials.
