About This Call

The Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management and the Utah Division of Arts & Museums Public Art Program in partnership with Mountainland Technical College requests qualifications from Utah-based artists and/or artist teams with rich ties to Utah interested in creating site-specific artwork(s) for the upcoming Mountainland Technical College Heber Campus. A budget of $164,000 is available for the project, covering all related expenses including artist fees, fabrication, support structures, insurance, shipping, travel, lighting, installation, and documentation.

Eligible applicants are professional artists and artist teams residing in Utah or with ties to Utah. Artists living in Wasatch County or Summit County will receive additional weight in the review process. Applicants must have a U.S. Tax ID Number (SSN, EIN, ITIN, or other). The Art Selection Committee is seeking Utah-based artists or artists with rich connections to Utah who are punctual, responsive, and reflect the College's perspective and its students. The Committee is strongly interested in exterior work but is open to proposals containing interior components. Artwork subject matter and content must be appropriate for public exhibition and not contain advertising, religious references, sexual or violent content, or convey political partisanship.

Applications must include up to 10 images and/or up to 2 video files of previous work, a CV or resume, and a Statement of Interest explaining interest in the project and how the work might relate to it. Complete application packages must be received by January 10th, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. MT. Semi-finalists will be selected to present full proposals to the committee on April 16th, 2025, including concept, budget, and timeline. All semi-finalists will be awarded an honorarium to help defray proposal development costs, which will be applied toward the commission amount for the awarded artist(s). Artwork completion is targeted for Spring 2026 with project substantial completion in Summer 2026.
