Mountain Standard Clay

Foothills Art Center announces the 2016 Mountain Standard Clay exhibition, a juried show for ceramic artists. This exhibition replaces FAC's longstanding biennial exhibition, Colorado Clay, and will showcase clay as fine art beyond functional objects.

Artists may enter up to 3 works of art, with up to 5 images per entry. Each work must be submitted as a separate entry. The entry fee is $20 for the first entry; additional entries may be submitted without further payment using the coupon code MORECLAY. Works must feature clay as the primary or predominant medium and must not have been previously displayed at FAC. Wall pieces may not exceed 50 lbs and must be equipped with adequate hanging devices and hardware. Eligibility is limited to artists currently residing, working, or studying in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

The juror is Peter Held, a museum director and contemporary art curator with three decades of experience. Invited artists include K Rhyus Cesark (CO), Samuel Chung (AZ), Jason Kishell (TX), and Claire McArdle (CO). Exhibition dates are April 16 – June 12, 2016. Accepted artists will be notified by February 24, 2016, and must deliver work by April 8, 2016 (hand delivery by appointment April 4-8 or shipped March 28 – April 6). FAC retains a 40% commission on art sales. Accepted artists are also invited to bring or ship smaller clay items priced $250 or less for a special gift gallery exhibition space.
