Mosaic Artist Call for Art

The Town of Addison is developing a pre-qualified list of mosaic artists for potential public art projects. The initial project involves a 3-section wall approximately 6 ft. high, with each section approximately 8 ft. wide and an available area of up to 4 ft. x 5 ft. for each mosaic panel. Projects may include large and small mosaic panels designed for outdoor walls or building facades, as well as 2D and 3D mosaic sculptures of animals, flora, trees, or other landscape features for placement along trails or within parks. Budget for projects will be based on dimensions, complexity, and quality of the mosaic artwork.

This is a multi-stage artist call. Stage One requires submission of an artist statement and biography (500-word limit), resume or CV (2-page limit per team member), portfolio with 4-10 past project work samples, and a letter of interest (2-page limit). Selected artists must demonstrate professional quality work fitting Addison's Public Art Collection, with experience creating integrated artwork with strong design aesthetics and spatial sensibilities. Artists or artist-led teams must be over 18 years old. Employees of the Town of Addison and AMLI residential, as well as volunteers of the Addison Arbor Foundation, are ineligible.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to Stage Two to prepare preliminary concept proposals and three renderings, for which they will be paid $1,500 USD. Stage Three involves final artist selection for design and commissioning. Addison is focusing on improving the diversity of its public art collection and highly encourages artists with unique and/or diverse backgrounds to apply.
