MORNINGWARE: Breakfast & Brunch

Saratoga Clay Arts Center seeks submissions for its 6th annual national juried exhibition, Morningware: Breakfast & Brunch, to be juried by Colorado potter Lorna Meaden. Morning meals are a cornerstone of daily routines marking the transition from rest to activity, and the pottery used during these moments plays a crucial role in setting the tone for the day. The exhibition seeks entries of functional pots designed to enhance the rituals surrounding morning meals. Whether a quick daybreak breakfast or a leisurely late morning brunch, the pottery that supports these moments helps ease into whatever comes next. These are objects that provide comfort, utility, and beauty. The category of breakfast and brunch ware encompasses a wide array of pieces such as pitchers, teapots, coffee pour-overs, teacups with saucers, berry bowls, coffee mugs, travel mugs, juicers, butter dishes, plates, bowls, fruit bowls, cream and sugar sets, and coffee canisters.

The exhibition is open to all artists over 18 residing within the United States and Canada. Works must be primarily ceramic. The entry fee is $35 per entry for up to 3 works. Applicants must submit 1-3 images and provide a biography, artist statement, and for each work, title, description (medium/process), and dimensions. Submissions are accepted online only through callforentry.com from September 15, 2024 through January 15, 2025.

Two monetary prizes will be awarded: Juror's Choice ($300) and Director's Choice ($100). Winners will be chosen and revealed at the opening reception and on social media. Notification will be sent through callforentry.com after February 1, 2025. The exhibition runs May 3 - June 14, 2025.
