Montello Foundation Artist Residency

Montello Foundation is dedicated to supporting artists who foster understanding of nature, its fragility, and the need to protect it. The foundation provides a solitary retreat where artists can experience the vastness of a desert landscape from a safe building. The facility contains a cabin with running water and electricity, and a 20 x 20 ft studio with large windows facing North.

The residency program, opened in 2015, hosts between 10 and 14 artists annually. The program is free; however, artists must cover their own travel and living expenses. The residency runs from May 2 to November 7, 2026. Eligible applicants work in photography, drawing, film/video/new media, mixed-media/multi-discipline, painting, or sculpture. International artists are welcome. Entry fee is $20. The submission deadline is January 18, 2026.
