Mona Lisa Redefined

This exhibition challenges artists to reimagine Mona Lisa—whether in a new medium, new time/place, new interpretation, or other creative approach. The call invites artists to explore how this famous work continues to capture imagination so many years after it was created.

Accepted mediums include original watercolor, oil, acrylic, fabric, mosaic, needlepoint, collage, quilting, and 3-dimensional sculpture. No prints, digital submissions, nudes, or suggestive portrayals will be accepted. Each artist may submit up to 3 artworks. Entry fee is $30 for up to 3 pieces. Submissions must include an artist statement, images/media of each piece, artist bio, and entry fee.

The call for entries closes May 5, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Participants will be notified by May 17, 2023. The exhibition will run in Monmouth University's Pollak Gallery from June 16 to August 11, 2023. Only artwork of professional presentation will be accepted. Wall-hung items must be appropriately framed with sturdy wire hanging systems (no saw-tooth hangers or metal eyelets). Three-dimensional works must be stable or submitted with adequate display stands and cannot exceed 5' h x 3' w or weigh more than 75 pounds.
