Modern Masters of the West 2026

Modern Masters of the West 2026 is a juried exhibition hosted by the Fort Worth Stockyards in association with Stockyards Fashion Week, taking place October 2-4, 2026. Select artists will present three original works of art and offer live demonstrations in partnership with iconic Fort Worth Stockyards brands. The event draws over 100,000 visitors during Stockyards Fashion Week.

Open to western artists age 18+ working in 2-D painting and drawing media (oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pastel, graphite, colored pencil, etc.). Both traditional and contemporary work are accepted. Artists must be physically present and able to showcase live demonstrations during the event. Works must have been created within the last two years and must be neatly finished and professionally presented (framed or with neatly finished sides). Artwork may not exceed 30" in width or 38" in height including framing. No AI-generated work is accepted. Works that are pre-printed and painted over are not accepted. Original work only; works created referencing another artist's photographs require express written permission from the photographer.

Selected artists receive a $1,000 stipend from the Fort Worth Stockyards, keep 100% of sales with no commission, and have exposure to over 100,000 visitors. Artists may optionally offer limited edition fine art reproductions. The application fee is $35 (CGA members receive a discount). Applications are accepted March 15 - June 16, 2026. Jury Round 1 selects 24 finalists by June 30. Brand partners then select their artist partners, with acceptance notifications sent July 18. Awards are determined by a juror based on the three exhibited pieces viewed live at the event. A People's Choice award (fundraiser) provides the winner with 20% of total vote proceeds up to $1,000.
