MNEMONIC Photography Exhibition & Publication

Dab Art's juried photography competition features work selected for exhibition at H Gallery + Studios, a 1930's-era building located between Malibu and Ojai in the greater Los Angeles area. The venue's vaulted ceilings, suspended display walls and substantial exhibition space create a unique and highly visited gallery. Dab Art's high-caliber reputation, progressive curating style and distinguished guest jurors makes this annual photography competition one of the most coveted contemporary exhibitions in Southern California.

Entries will be juried and selected based on technical application, originality and concept. Finalists will be invited to show their work in a six-week exhibition at H Gallery and will be featured along with their photos in a full-color book published by Dab Art titled MNEMONIC. This publication will be added to the permanent catalog in the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) Balch Art Research Library. All exhibiting photographers will receive a gratis paperback edition of MNEMONIC; a hardback book will also be available for purchase. The competition is open to photographers at least 18 years old; all genres, photography formats and print mediums are acceptable.

Entry fee is $40, with an additional $5 per image beyond the first five. Submissions must include a minimum of 5 and maximum of 15 images. Cash awards will be given as determined by the jury panel: $300 for Best In Show and $200 for Runner Up. All finalists selected to exhibit will receive a gratis paperback copy of MNEMONIC. Three artists will be selected to participate in a televised panel discussion. The jury concludes May 4, with artist notification via email on May 5. Artwork must be received by June 1. The opening reception and book release is June 9, the panel discussion is July 13, and the exhibition closes July 22. Dab Art retains a 40% commission on all exhibition and website sales, with remittances paid within 60 days after the exhibit concludes.
