M.L. Red Trabue Nature Reserve Public Artwork Commission

Dublin Arts Council is seeking to commission an artist or artist team to create a site-specific permanent public artwork installation in M.L. "Red" Trabue Nature Reserve in Dublin, Ohio. The 90-acre park features restored wetland and vernal pools, a boardwalk, biking and walking paths, ponds stocked with fish, an arboretum, wildflower and prairie grasslands, bluebird nest boxes, and the historic Fleming log cabin built in 1865. This will be the latest large-scale permanent artwork of the Dublin Art in Public Places program, which began in 1988.

The project budget is $150,000 (all-inclusive), covering artist/design fee, materials, fabrication, installation, transportation, insurance, project documentation, engineering, travel, site modification, per diem expenses and contingency. The artwork will be dedicated in summer 2023. The call is open to all professional U.S. citizens who live and work in the United States. Artist teams are considered, but only a single artist will be contracted as project manager. The artist's services include design of an original artwork, management of fabrication and installation, and availability for public reception, media interviews and promotional opportunities.

Finalists will be required to make a mandatory site visit to Dublin in October 2021 prior to developing a proposal, with travel details to be determined. A second visit will be required to present the proposal in early January 2022 (presentation format TBD). Travel expenses and a stipend will be provided. Applications must be submitted digitally at www.callforentry.org and consist of six digital images (JPEG format preferred, minimum 1920 pixels on longest edge, maximum 5MB each), plus up to three audio clips and three video clips.
