About This Call
Mixmaster: Juried Members Exhibition is an exhibition seeking to discover and recognize the talents of artists working in New England and the Tri-State region. The exhibition provides an opportunity for established and emerging artists to debut their most recent work.
The exhibition runs January 24 - March 6, 2016, at Mattatuck Museum, 144 West Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702. A reception and awards ceremony will be held Sunday, January 23, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Eligibility is open to Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont resident artists 18 years and over who are current Mattatuck Museum members. Original works in all media are accepted; work must have been executed in the past three years and not previously exhibited in a Connecticut museum, gallery or historical society. Up to three works per artist may be submitted, with a maximum of one work per artist selected for exhibition.
Entry fee is $10.00 per work. Work sample requirements: 1-3 total samples (images, audio, or video in any combination, up to 3 of each type). Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed; maximum 84 inches in any dimension and 75 pounds. Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 48 inches in any dimension and 100 pounds. All work requiring assembly or complex installation must include detailed installation instructions with reference photos. Artists must provide equipment for video or sound work. Prohibited materials include glitter, wet paint, sharp objects, open flames, balloons, spray, dangerous chemicals, weapons, pressurized containers, plants, animals, hazardous materials, and infested materials.
Prizes include: First Prize $500 plus solo exhibition in "The Lab" (July 31-August 28, 2016); Second Prize $300; Third Prize $200; Juror Selection Prize upgraded Director's Circle membership ($250 value); Visitor's Selection Prize upgraded Director's Circle membership ($250 value). Juror is Elizabeth Denny, Director of Denny Gallery, New York. Notification of selections will be December 16. All delivery and return shipping costs are the artist's responsibility. The Museum assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to submitted work; insurance is the artist's responsibility.
