About This Call

Current Mattatuck Museum membership at any level is required at time of submission. MIXMASTER is open to all Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont resident artists 18 years and over. Original works in all media are accepted, provided they were executed in the past three years (2023-2025) and have not been previously exhibited in a Connecticut museum. A maximum of one work per artist may be selected for the exhibition.

Up to three works per artist may be submitted with a $20.00 entry fee per work. Payment is accepted via VISA, Discover, MasterCard, or American Express through ArtCall.org. Artists must provide a 2-3 sentence statement about their work on the application, which may be included in accompanying labels if selected. Submissions are accepted only through ArtCall.org; entries sent via email or mail will not be considered.

2D artwork must be framed and ready for installation with hanging apparatuses already installed (d-rings or wire only). Maximum dimensions are 84 inches in any direction and 75 pounds. 3D artwork cannot exceed 48 inches in any dimension and 100 pounds, and should be accompanied by a pedestal or be ready for freestanding display. Artwork using AI must be submitted in the "AI Artwork" category with AI program(s) listed under "Medium/Materials." All work requiring assembly or complex installation must include detailed installation instructions with reference photos. The Museum prohibits glitter, wet paint, sharp objects, open flames, balloons, sprays, dangerous chemicals, weapons, pressurized containers, plants or animals, hazardous materials, infested materials, or anything deemed harmful to the Museum's collections. Questionable materials should be cleared in advance by contacting Julie Francois at [email protected]. Accepted work may not be removed during the exhibition. All costs associated with delivery, shipping, and return postage are the artist's responsibility.
