About This Call

"Mixed (e)Motions" at A/NT Gallery (formerly "Art/Not Terminal Gallery") is a nonprofit gallery in Seattle, WA in its 25th year of operation. This exhibition is open to mixed media and multimedia artwork only. All works should exhibit both motion and emotion, with special consideration for unique media combinations. All sizes are accepted as long as the work fits reasonably within the gallery.

Mixed media is defined as the mixing of two or more artistic media (e.g., acrylic and collage, graphite and encaustic, ceramic and wool). Multimedia art incorporates nonvisual elements such as audio or tactile elements. Only original art is allowed. Prints and reproductions are permitted if incorporated with other media, such as a giclee with acrylic painted over it or a photograph used in a collage. The substrate, frame, mounting, pedestal, or other supporting structures that aren't part of the presented work do not count as additional media. Entry fee is $25 per artist for up to 3 pieces. Work samples may include 1-3 images, 0-3 audio files, and 0-3 video files (minimum 1 total sample, maximum 3 total).

The exhibition runs July 2-27, 2014. Entries are due May 31, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Jurying takes place June 1-7, 2014, with prizes awarded for best works ($100 First Place, $60 Second, $40 Third). Judging for prize money occurs July 6 after receiving physical entries. The jury includes Paul Pauper (curator of Form/Space Atelier), Amy Tipton (Sassafras Boutique), and Julie Baroh (Krab Jab Studio). Selection is based on quality of work, technical execution, composition, creativity, and how well the piece expresses the theme. There is a preference for different and imaginative media combinations, especially those incorporating 3D elements. Artists will be notified of acceptance by June 8, 2014. The opening reception is July 5, 2014 from 6-9 PM, with an additional reception July 11, 2014 from 6-9 PM during the Belltown Art Walk.

Selected artwork must be delivered by June 30, 2014. In-person drop-off is available June 29-30 between 11 AM and 6 PM. Shipping costs and packaging are the artist's responsibility. All artwork to be hung must have appropriate hanging hardware. For 3D work, the gallery can provide white pedestals of varying sizes but cannot provide shielded cases, projectors, televisions, stereos, or other devices for multimedia artwork. Artists must sign A/NT Gallery's consignment contract upon acceptance. Artwork significantly different from submitted work will not be displayed. Artists set their own prices; all unsold work must be picked up by July 27, 2014. The gallery takes a 15% commission on sales and collects 9.5% Seattle sales tax. A/NT Gallery is unable to provide insurance. Contact [email protected] with questions.
