Mix Tape

"Mix Tape" is a juried visual art exhibition featuring artworks about or influenced by all genres of music or musicians. Artworks can explore music of any genre—from classical to classic rock, country to jazz, hip hop to folk—or be inspired by musicians from Clara Schumann to Beyoncé, Johannes Brahms to The Clash. All explorations of this theme are invited. Artworks in all media, techniques, and styles are encouraged.

Eligibility is open to artists 21 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius. The exhibition will be held at Art Saint Louis Gallery, 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis, from October 1-27, 2016, with a free reception on Saturday, October 1, 2016, 6-8 p.m. Jurors are Cat Pick (KDHX 88.1 FM host and artist) and Eddie Silva (External Affairs and Publications Manager for the St. Louis Symphony).

Artists may submit up to 3 original artworks completed between 2013-2016. Works must not have been exhibited in any juried exhibit in the St. Louis region during the 6 months prior to the exhibit dates or previously shown at Art Saint Louis Gallery. Size limits: 2-d works not to exceed 6' wide or 7' tall (including frame); size limits apply to all media. 2-d works must be framed or pre-approved for presentation. No ceiling-installed or floor-sitting works. Sculpture must be pedestal-displayed or wall-hung. Entry fees: $35 for non-members, $20 for Art Saint Louis members. Five cash Awards of Excellence will be selected: one $250 Best of Show Award and four $100 Awards of Excellence. Award recipients are eligible for the "Honor Awards 2017" curated exhibit (June 17-July 20, 2017). All artworks must have a sale price or be marked Not for Sale with an insurance value (50% retail). Art Saint Louis retains 30% commission on sales; artist receives 70%.
