About This Call
Mix It Up March is a juried exhibition hosted by The Firefly Artists featuring mixed media creations. Artists living on Long Island and in the surrounding region are eligible, provided they can pick up and drop off work in person. All original media is acceptable, including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, collage, fabric work, glasswork, jewelry, and digital media. The exhibition runs March 4-27, 2022 in The Darcy Gallery (second floor) at The Firefly Artists Gallery, 162 Main Street, Northport, NY. Note: there is no handicapped access to this venue.
Entry fee is $35 for one submission, with additional pieces accepted for $5 each. Artists may submit 1-4 images for consideration, and up to two pieces from each selected artist will be included in the exhibition. Accepted work must be framed, wired, and ready to hang or display. Framed pieces 16" x 20" and larger must have plexiglass instead of glass. Jewelry pieces must be framed. Maximum size (including framing) is 30" x 40". All art must be for sale; the gallery takes a 35% commission. The sale price provided during application cannot be subsequently changed.
Submissions are due February 15, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Acceptance letters will be sent February 17. In-person drop-off dates are February 26 (3:00-5:00 p.m.) and February 29 (12:00-2:00 p.m. and 3:00-5:00 p.m.). An art reception is scheduled for March 12 (3:00-5:00 p.m.). Artwork pickup is March 30 (12:00-3:00 p.m.) or April 2 (3:00-5:00 p.m.). A storage fee of $5 per day applies for pieces left beyond April 1. Awards include First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention. Artists must provide insurance coverage for their own works and are responsible for all delivery and pickup logistics.
