About This Call

The Adrian Center for the Arts, a non-profit organization in southeastern Michigan, is seeking submissions for an exhibition titled "Misinformation." The ACA is dedicated to promoting and supporting the visual arts in Lenawee County and beyond through educational and enrichment opportunities, studio space, and a 1,100 sq. ft. gallery that presents seven exhibits a year.

For this exhibition, artists are invited to create work about misinformation—things commonly believed but not actually true. Explore one-time facts presented out of context, propaganda, deep fakes created through AI, optical illusions, or spatial confusions. Artists from Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana may submit up to three pieces completed within the last three years using any medium or combination of media for original works. The entry fee is $35 for up to three entries (no fee for ACA members). Work must pass through a 33" wide x 81" tall doorway and shall not exceed 200 pounds. The ACA gallery is not equipped for projection, video, or time-based media, but these may be considered if you provide all needed equipment. Works previously exhibited in the ACA Gallery are not eligible.

Submissions are accepted through February 14, 2025. Jury notification will be no later than March 7, 2025. Works must be received by April 10, 2025. The exhibition runs April 17 – May 17, 2025, with a public reception on Saturday, May 17 from 2–4 p.m. and juror's comments and awards at 3 p.m. Gallery hours are Thursdays–Sundays, 1–4 p.m. or by appointment. All work will be available for purchase unless marked not for sale (NFS); the ACA retains 20% of sales. The juror is Sally Rose, who received an MFA in textiles from Indiana University and served as head of Fiber Arts at Central Michigan University.
