Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge Confluence Gallery

Confluence Gallery, located in the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge's Education and Visitor Center in Bloomington, MN, is accepting exhibit proposals for their 2024 and 2025 exhibition program years. The gallery is a venue for emerging and established Minnesota-based artists who create artwork with a focus on nature and natural elements, ecology, conservation, and/or the beauty of the Minnesota River Valley. Each artist selected will present a workshop, artist talk, or other demonstration, with Artistry and Refuge staff assisting with logistics and development of the activity.

Proposals must include: an artist statement or proposal description of 1000 characters or less indicating how the artwork aligns with the gallery's mission; 10 digital artwork samples as JPEGs (1200 pixels minimum on longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, under 5 MB); information about each work sample including title, medium, size, and date of completion; and an optional resume or biographical summary (two-page maximum). A $15 non-refundable application fee is required. Fee waivers are available upon request.

Proposals will be reviewed by a Curatorial Review Panel based on relevance to the gallery's mission and theme, quality and artistic excellence, creativity and originality, technical skills, and overall exhibition proposal. Applicants will be notified by June 19, 2024 of the panel's decision. Selected artists may be featured in solo or two-person exhibitions. Each artist that exhibits at Confluence will receive a $250 stipend.
